Why the XROS took over

When single use disposables were banned across the UK on 1 June 2025, millions of people needed a replacement overnight. The GOV.UK guidance made the position clear, and the vape trade split into two camps: prefilled pod systems, and refillable pod kits.

Vaporesso sits in the refillable camp, and the XROS won that category for three reasons. It is small enough to feel like a disposable in the hand. The pods are top filling, so you are not fighting a rubber bung. And crucially, one pod format fits the whole family, so upgrading your device does not obsolete your spares.

That last point is worth more than it sounds. Most brands change pod format every generation and quietly strand your stock. Vaporesso did not.

Vaporesso XROS 5, 5 Mini and 4 Mini

The Vaporesso XROS 5 Pod Kit is the one to buy if you want a single device that does everything. Adjustable airflow takes it from a tight cigarette style draw to something considerably looser, the battery comfortably clears a full day, and the mesh pods hold their flavour to the last few millilitres.

The XROS 5 Mini trades some battery for a smaller body. If your main complaint about vapes is that they are bulky in a pocket, this is the Vaporesso to take. The XROS 4 Mini remains in stock and is the value option, using the identical pods.

All three are mouth to lung devices. None of them need you to set a wattage or understand ohms, which is deliberate.

COREX 2.0 pods explained

COREX 2.0 is Vaporesso’s mesh coil technology, and it is the reason the flavour holds up. Older coils used a wound wire that heated unevenly and scorched the liquid nearest the metal. Mesh heats across a flat surface instead, so more of the wick reaches temperature at once.

In practice you get cleaner flavour, less of the burnt edge as a pod ages, and a noticeably longer usable life. We stock XROS COREX 2.0 pods in the standard resistances.

Buy pods with your kit. A device with a tired pod tastes worse than a cheap disposable, and that experience is what sends people back to cigarettes.

Luxe X, Luxe Q and Eco Nano pods

Beyond the XROS, Vaporesso runs several other pod lines and we carry replacements for each. Luxe X Corex 2.0 pod packs fit the Luxe X range. Luxe Q and QS replacement pods cover the older, simpler Luxe devices. Eco Nano replacement pods and Vibe replacement pod packs cover those two families.

These are not interchangeable with XROS pods. If you are unsure what you own, read the pod itself rather than the device, because the range name is printed on the pod body.

iTank 2 and sub ohm vaping

If pods are not enough and you want real vapour, the Vaporesso iTank 2 is the tank to pair with a 510 mod. It is a direct to lung tank, it resists leaking better than most, and the top fill is genuinely one handed.

Sub ohm vaping uses lower nicotine strengths, typically 3mg to 6mg freebase rather than the 10mg or 20mg salts you would run in a pod kit. Put 20mg salt in a sub ohm tank and it will be unpleasant and wasteful.

GTi mesh coils

The iTank 2 runs GTi mesh coils, which we sell in five packs. Coil life depends almost entirely on what you put through it. Clear fruit blends might give you two weeks. Sweet dessert and custard liquids caramelise on the mesh and can kill a coil in three or four days.

Prime a new coil before use: drip a few drops directly onto the exposed cotton, fit it, fill the tank and then leave it standing for five minutes. Skipping that step is the single most common way people ruin a brand new coil.

Dojo Blast 2000 Go

The Dojo Blast 2000 Go is Vaporesso’s answer for people who do not want to refill anything. It is a prefilled pod kit, so you charge the device and swap pods. If the idea of handling e liquid puts you off entirely, start here, then move to an XROS once you are comfortable.

Which Vaporesso kit should you buy?

For a first refillable device, take the XROS 5 Mini. For all day use with one charge, take the XROS 5. For pocket size above all else, take the XROS 4 Mini. For clouds and a sub ohm setup, take the iTank 2 with a mod. For no refilling at all, take the Dojo Blast 2000 Go.

How long a pod lasts and how to extend it

A mesh pod typically gives one to two weeks of normal use. Three habits stretch that considerably.

Let a freshly filled pod stand for three to five minutes before the first draw so the wick saturates properly. Take slow, long draws rather than short sharp ones, because these are mouth to lung devices and a hurried pull just pulls air past dry cotton. And avoid leaving a filled pod in a hot car or a sunny windowsill, since heat thins the liquid and pushes it past the seals.

Mouth to lung or direct to lung?

Mouth to lung means you draw the vapour into your mouth first, then inhale, exactly as you would smoke a cigarette. It suits tight airflow, higher nicotine and small devices. Every XROS is designed around it.

Direct to lung means drawing straight into the lungs in one motion, like taking a deep breath. It needs open airflow, low nicotine and a sub ohm tank such as the iTank 2. Most ex smokers should start mouth to lung, because it matches the habit you already have.

Troubleshooting

No vapour. Charge it first. Then check the contacts on both pod and device for e liquid and wipe them dry.

Burnt taste on a new pod. It was vaped before the wick saturated. Nothing recovers a burnt wick, so fit a fresh pod and let it stand this time.

Leaking. Usually overfilling, or filling while the pod is warm. Fill to just below the maximum line and let it cool first.

Weak flavour after a week. Often vapers tongue rather than a fault. Switch flavour family for a day and it resets.

UK rules that apply to everything here

All e liquid sold legally in the UK is capped at 20mg per ml nicotine, bottled nicotine liquid at 10ml, and prefilled pods and tanks at 2ml. The wick dried out, usually from vaping immediately after filling or chain vaping faster than the pod can rewick. A burnt pod cannot be recovered.

Choosing your nicotine strength

UK law caps e liquid at 20mg per ml, so every strength decision happens below that ceiling. As a rough guide, a 20 a day smoker usually starts at 20mg nicotine salt. A 10 a day smoker is normally comfortable at 10mg. Anyone using a sub ohm tank like the iTank 2 should drop to 3mg or 6mg freebase instead, because sub ohm devices deliver far more vapour per puff.

Two signals tell you the strength is wrong. Headaches, a slightly sick feeling or a scratchy throat mean it is too high. Vaping constantly and still wanting a cigarette means it is too low. Adjust rather than giving up, because most people who relapse do so in the first week after choosing a strength that never satisfied them.

What a refillable kit actually costs to run

This is where refillable hardware earns its place. A pod kit is a one off purchase you keep for months. After that you are buying pods and e liquid, and a 10ml bottle of nic salt fills a 2ml pod roughly five times.

Compare that with a prefilled system, where every 2ml comes in its own disposable plastic pod, and the gap widens quickly for anyone vaping daily. The trade off is that you have to fill it yourself, which takes about fifteen seconds. If that is genuinely off putting, a prefilled kit is the better fit and there is no shame in it.

Your first week checklist

Order the kit, a spare pack of pods and at least two e liquid flavours at the same time. Running out of either mid week is the most common reason people pick up cigarettes again.

Charge the device fully before first use. Fill the pod, then wait five minutes. Start with a tobacco or menthol flavour if you have just stopped smoking, because the familiarity helps, then move to fruit once the habit is established.

Expect the first two or three days to feel slightly off. The hand to mouth routine transfers immediately, but the throat sensation takes longer to settle. Caring for your device

Wipe the pod contacts and the device connector with dry kitchen roll once a week. E liquid creeps into the connection over time and causes intermittent firing that looks like a dead battery.

Store the device upright where you can. Charge it with the cable that came with it or any decent USB C lead, and avoid cheap unbranded chargers, which are the usual culprit behind lithium battery faults.
